XLRI Students Pledge to Donate Eyes

An NGO named Roshni, held an awareness program on eye donation in XLRI Jamshedpur on 5th September, 2012. The NGO is working on promotion of eye donation in Jamshedpur. The program motivated 27 XLRI students to an extent that they pledged to donate eyes.

The budding managers appreciated the program and requested the NGO to visit again so that students who could not attend the campaign could get an opportunity to contribute their services to the mankind.

 

XAT 2013

XAT 2013 Entrance to be conducted on 6th January, 2013

The sources from XLRI, School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur admission office have declared the XAT entrance exam dates. The exam is scheduled to be held on 6th January, 2013. The notification will be released by XLRI in a few dates.

The sources said that the institute is planning to incorporate few changes in the exam this year. The mode of the exam will be a paper – pencil – test. Also, the exam timings might be changed from 2 hours to 2 and half hours. It might exclude the essay section this time.

Further candidates can expect more questions on social sciences and humanities though the paper will be more of analytical based questions. These changes are focused on to bring in more gender and discipline diverse students on campus. The numbers of centres to conduct the exam shall also be increased.

The changes are being considered by Xavier Institute of Management and Research – Mumbai, Xavier Institute of Management- Bhubaneshwar, Xavier Institute of Social Studies – Ranchi and Loyola Institute of Business Administration Chennai.

Entrepreneurship Management Programme

XLRI Jamshedpur launches programme in Entrepreneurship Management

XLRI School of Business & Human Resource, Jamshedpur, has launched a full time six – month certificate program in entrepreneurship administration designed to provide competency – based education with a view to promoting entrepreneurship in the country.

The programme  –  ‘Post – Graduate Programme for Certificate in Entrepreneurship Management ( PGP – CEM )’, targeted to enterprising individuals and those who run their family business, will begin July this year. The total fee for the programme is Rupee 55,000, required to be paid in two equal installments. The last date for applying to this programme is 30th May, 2012.

Speaking on the new program, Fr. E. Abraham S.J., Director, XLRI said, “This program launched by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre aims to encourage entrepreneurship in the country. The program will be extremely beneficial to all the enterprising individuals, who wish to kick-start their own businesses.”

The programme, which starts from July this year, aims to encourage critical and lateral thinking and integrate theory with practice. According to the Director, the objective is to help develop effective and successful entrepreneurs who have an inclination and desire to create new enterprises, and to also enhance the skill – sets of those who are currently managing their own entities.

According to the institute, the core curriculum has been designed carefully in order to ensure that courses included in the programme does not only contain the usual inputs on functional areas of business like finance, marketing, strategy and human resource, but also fields of specific interest in the context of entrepreneurial development in India like family business, women entrepreneurship, agripreneurship and social enterprises.

Graduates from any recognized University are eligible to apply for this programme. According to the institute, the applicants will be subject to a process of personal interview and, if necessary, group discussion for admission into the programme.

Post Graduate Programme for Certificate in Entrepreneurship Management was launched by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre ( EDC ) of XLRI in March 2010 to encourage entrepreneurship and social consciousness. After encouraging response for the two batches, XLRI has launched the third round of this programme.

Agri Business Management Program

XLRI introduces Online Agri – Business Management Program

Aimed at training managers who can identify and develop opportunities in Agri – business, XLRI School of Business & Human Resource has recently launched a six – month online Agri – Business Management Programme. The programme will start in May this year.

The institute has developed the self – learning ‘Certificate Programme in Agri – Business Management’ in collaboration with Ikisan, a comprehensive Agri Portal promoted by Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd ( NFCL ).

The programme, according to the institute, is aimed at helping students identify exciting sales and marketing career within the dynamic and fast growing agri – business.

Fr. E. Abraham, Director, XLRI said that the programme has been developed keeping in mind the plethora of opportunities in agri – business sector. “The course will supplement candidates’ agricultural knowledge with business skills to further enhance their effectiveness,” he said.

The programme divided into ten modules covering managerial, technical and other professional skills, will begin with one week induction programme at XLRI Jamshedpur Campus followed by study of course modules and working on independent projects. The programme will cost Rupee 75,000.

Students will also have to work on an Independent project where they will have to identify an issue in Agri – business and study that in detail to give their recommendations after analyzing the problem using concepts learnt during the programme.

Selection and Certification :

The students who are pursuing final year of B.Sc / M.Sc ( Agriculture or Allied subjects ), working professionals in Agri – Business sector and graduates from other streams of science with at least two years experience in Agri – Business are eligible to enroll for this specialized course. The last date for applying to this programme is 24th March, 2012.

After successful completion of the programme candidates would be issued certificates jointly by XLRI School of Business & Human Resource and Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd ( NFCL ).
