Young Professionals Program News

The United Nations, in collaboration with the Union External Affairs Ministry and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, is conducting the Young Professionals Programme ( U.N. Civil Services Examination, 2012 ), an annual entrance examination to recruit new talent to the world body, in New Delhi on 5th December, 20112. For young high – calibre professionals, the programme is a platform for launching a career in the U.N.

This year, the examination is offered to candidates with academic backgrounds in Architecture, Economic affairs, Information Systems and Technology, Political Affairs, Radio Production and Social Affairs.


  • 32 years old or younger as of 31st December, 2012
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree in a subject related to the job family ( see – academic background referred below ) that you are applying to Fluency in English or French
  • You can apply for only one category ( applications sent for multiple categories will get rejected ). Applications from women candidates are highly encouraged. Career path

Initially, YPP will be appointed for two years and then be reviewed for a continuing appointment. The organisation promotes mobility within and across duty stations and job families. As a new recruit, YPPs are expected to work in at least two different functions and duty stations within their first five years of service.
