Punjab Combined Entrance Test

A combined Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by the Punjab Technical University every year generally in the month of May for admission to First Year Degree Engineering Courses in the following Colleges / Departments:

  • Thapar Institue of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. Punjab University
  • Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
  • Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Engineering & Technology, Ferozpur. Punjabi University
  • Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Patiala - 147 002.
  • Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Bhatinda.
  • Baba Banda Singh College of Engineering, Fatehgarh Sahib (Distt. Bhatinda) Guru Nanak Dev University
  • Government Engineering College, Bhatinda
  • Department of Computer Science and Engineering
  • Department of Architecture, Faculty of Physical Planning & Architecture.
  • Department of Electronics Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology
  • Department of Food Science and Technology
  • Guru Ramdas School of Planning, Faculty of Physical Planning & Architecture.
  • Beant College of Engineering & Technology, Gurudaspur
  • Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar Punjab Agricultural University
  • College of Agricultural Engineering, Ludhiana. Sant Longowal Institute, Longowal and Guru Nanak Dev University, Department of Chemistry, Amristar do not fall under the purview of this test.
Minimum Qualification for CET Entrance Exam

those candidates who have passed / appeared in the 10+2 examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths or its equivalent examination conducted by a recognised Board / Institution shall be eligible to appear in the test.

The Test is held usually in the month of May.

Entrance Examination - CET Entrance Exam:

The Joint Entrance Examination is held in the month of May at Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Delhi, Amritsar, Bhatinda, Ferozpur, Gurudaspur, Sangrur, Shimla, Jammu and Kurukshetra only. The examination comprises of five sessions. Session I, II and III will contain Objective Type questions in Physics, Chemistry and Maths and descriptive type questions containing short answer questions and numerical problems. Session IV is the test for proficiency in Punjabi Language to be taken by those candidates who are Punjabis settled in other States and are desirous of seeking admission to Guru Nanak Engineering College. Ludhiana and Baba Banda Singh Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib. Session V is to test the Architectural aptitude of the candidates and is only for the students seeking admission to B.Arch. course.

Age Limit for CET Entrance Exam

Candidate should not be above 22 years of age July 1 of the year of admission (3 years relaxation in case of SC/St candidates).

Selection Procedure for CET Entrance Exam:

On the basis of Entrance Examination, Punjab University will publish merit list of candidates who obtain 15 per cent marks (10 per cent for SC / ST / BC ) in aggregate. The admission to Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala and other three affiliated to the Punjab University, Chandigarh shall be based on the relative merit of candidates determined by the result of the Joint Entrance Test.

Application Procedure for CET Entrance Exam:

The candidates desirous of seeking admission to any of the College / Departments should obtain application forms and prospectuses at the appropriate time and must submit the same to the concerned Institution / Department by the due date as notified by them.

A copy of the CET Prospectus / Information Brochure containing rules, syllabus, Model Test Papers, General Information and Application form, etc., may be obtained during March / April on cash payment of prescribed fees at the Counter from the Cashier, Punjab University, Chandigarh or by post from the Secretary, Publication Bureau, Punjab University, Chandigarh by sending MO or crossed IPO in favour of the Registrar, Punjab University, Chandigarh Colleges (as mentioned in the admission notification) conducted by the CET.

Last Date for CET Entrance Exam:

Last date for submission of completed CET form alongwith the requisite fees in the month of March / April.
