GCE Examinations in India: General Certificate of Education (GCE) provides the basic qualification for entrance to higher and professional studies in the United Kingdom. The GCE Examinations are conducted at two main levels at Universities - Ordinary and Advanced.

'A' level results are the basis for entry to a wide range of courses at Universities. For Polytechnics courses and institutions of higher education, the entrance requirements vary. Most universities ask you to take an exam to test your verbal skills, the exam usually is the TOEFL. This may differ from university to university.
