Scholarship to the 25 students belonging to scheduled castes for education in foreign countries

The government of Maharashtra vide its resolution dated 11th June 2003, 5th August, 2004 and 17th June 2006 have decided to give scholarship to 25 students belonging to scheduled caste to undertake education in foreign countries are invited from the students who have secured admission during the academic year 2006 ? 2007 in the recognized universities abroad.

The applicants shall fulfill the following terms and conditions.
  • The student should be the permanent resident of Maharashtra
  • Minimum 60% marks at 12th standard exam for graduation courses and minimum 55% marks at graduation level for post graduation courses are required in the first attempt.
  • The annual income of the parents of the student for the year 2005 ? 06 shall not exceed Rs.2.50 lakhs.
  • The student must have obtained an admission for the first year in any recognized university in foreign country
  • The maximum age limit for the student is 35 years
  • 8 scholarships will be granted for graduation courses and 17 scholarships will be granted for post graduation courses. These scholarships will be awarded as under.

If the candidates fail to complete the course for which he has been awarded the scholarship, the complete amount of scholarship will be recovered

After completion of the course and joining service, the student shall voluntarily refund minimum 10% of the amount, which he has received in the form of scholarship, to the social justice fund of government of Maharashtra.

Application should be submitted in the prescribed form only, which is available free of cost in the office of the special District social welfare officer at district/divisional social welfare officer of concerned division and directorate of social welfare, Maharashtra State, 3 church road, Pune.

For further details the interested students may contact the special district social welfare officer/social welfare officer, zilla parishad of the concerned district, divisional social welfare officer of the concerned division or the office of the director of social welfare. Prescribed application forms for the said scholarship duly filled in along with all the requisite documents should invariably be submitted to the Director of Social Welfare, Maharashtra State, 3, Church Road, Pune ? 411001 on or before 19th August, 2006 positively.

Those students, who have applied in response to similar advertisement published in June 2006 by this Directorate, need not apply again.

Incomplete or late applications will not be entertained.
