Thoracic Imaging Fellowship, Canada
Thoracic Imaging Fellowship
The Thoracic Imaging division is one of the largest in North America with 9 staff radiologists working with state-of-the-art equipment in a complete PACS environment. The hospitals are fully affiliated with the University of Toronto.
The Thoracic Imaging fellowship offers a comprehensive multi-modality clinical experience in diagnostic and interventional techniques with over 350 MR, 11,000 CT, 111,000 CR / DR chest examinations and over 350 CT-guided lung biopsies each year. Ultrasound-guided pleural and lung intervention is an active growth area.
Two dedicated interventional suites are to be installed in 2002 with combined CT, CT fluoroscopy and ultrasound. The installation of additional equipment will increase the imaging resources in the hospitals to include:
- 10 multi-detector CT scanners
- 7 1.5T MR scanners
- 1 3T MRI and 1 1.5T ( CVMR ) Research MR scanners
Teaching and research opportunities are strongly encouraged with protected research time forming 20% of the fellowship. Fellows participate in weekly chest conferences and regular review of interesting cases including cardiac MR.
The preparation and presentation of clinical research cases at major scientific meetings is actively supported.
