Emerging Pacific Researcher’s Scholarships, New Zealand

The New Zealand Health Strategy seeks to reduce inequalities in health status by ensuring accessible and appropriate services for all New Zealanders

Study Subject : Health

Employers : Victoria University of Wellington

Level : Master’s or PhD

Researcher’s Scholarship Description :

Pacific peoples have significantly poorer health than other New Zealanders and Pacific peoples’ poorer access to health services is known to contribute to this situation.

The New Zealand Health Strategy seeks to reduce inequalities in health status by ensuring accessible and appropriate services for all New Zealanders. The Pacific Provider Development Fund (PPDF) seeks to improve access to health services for Pacific peoples by assisting the development of Pacific health providers and the Pacific health workforce.

There is a lack of Pacific health researchers within the health sector. To encourage students to choose a career pathway in the health research sector, funding has been made available to support postgraduate research into Pacific health issues through the PPDF.

Specific academic and cultural support will be available to ensure the completion study, and students will work with a group of researchers who are conducting research into Pacific Health issues.

Scholarship Application Deadline : Friday 29 October 2010.
