Pukehou Poutu Scholarship, New Zealand
Pukehou Poutū Scholarship has been made available by a bequest from the estate of Edith Fraser who wished that it be used for an award in agricultural or silvicultural sciences.
Pukehou Poutu Scholarship Eligibility
Applicants must be graduates of a New Zealand university and be New Zealand citizens.
Value and tenure
The scholarship will be tenable for a period of one year and be of such an amount as Universities New Zealand from time to time will decide, having regard to the income available for the purpose (the recent value has been $10,000 per annum).
One award is offered each year, and is tenable at any New Zealand university for postgraduate study in either agricultural or silvicultural science.
Pukehou Poutu Scholarship Selection Process
- Candidates will be assessed on academic achievement, relevance and competence of proposed research, strength of referee support, and contribution to other activities relevant to the scholarship.
- No scholarship shall be awarded if, in the opinion of the selection committee, there is no candidate of sufficient merit applying.
- The selection committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into following the selection meeting.

Candidates should complete an application using the Universities NZ online scholarships application form https://universitiesnz.communityforce.com
The online application form will request and applicants must provide :
- proof of New Zealand citizenship
- a statement outlining the proposed course of study
- a statement outlining the candidate’s present extracurricular activities and any other particulars that may prove useful to the selection committee
- the names of two people who have agreed to provide confidential references.
A copy of the candidate’s academic transcript can be provided by their university. References and the academic transcript will be requested using the online application system.
