Research Scholarship Description :
The University of Southampton and the Isle of Wight Council have a flourishing and productive partnership.
As one of a number of partnership activities, the University is offering a doctoral scholarship to pursue study related to 14-19 education on the Isle of Wight.
The research will be jointly supervised by Professor Jacky Lumby in the School of Education and Professor Debra Humphris, Pro Vice Chancellor, Education.
The focus of the study will be to understand how young people’s aspirations are formed, what factors lead to those aspirations being more limited or fully reflecting possibilities, and what the Isle of Wight systems, individual schools and their communities might do to redress negative and increase positives in the process
The University is offering a part-time PhD scholarship to a suitably qualified candidate.
Candidates must have a relevant Masters degree, and ideally be employed in the Isle of Wight education service or resident on the island.
However, consideration will be given to applicants who are non residents of the Island. For Home / EU students, the award consists of payment of fees for a period of four years
