Black History Month Scholarship

If youre a high school student in Michigan, it could mean a $1,000 scholarship for higher education, courtesy of the Pistons and the University of Phoenix. All you have to do is create a unique essay, poem or artwork that conveys your feelings about a person or topic related to Black History. Writing submissions should exceed no more than one page. Photos of the artwork should be submitted instead of the original piece. The student with the winning entry will be recognized on the court at halftime of the Pistons-Spurs game on Feb. 21. High school students may enter a written or art-focused submission on an aspect of Black history that could qualify them to win a $1,000 scholarship for higher education from the Detroit Pistons. The piece should portray the person or topic that they are focusing on in a creative and meaningful way. The winning student will be recognized on-court during a Pistons home game.
