Curtin University of Technology Australia

Curtin University of Technology Australia

In December 1986 the Western Australian Institute of Technology ( WAIT ) was formally made a university, taking its name from the influential and widely – revered former Prime Minister of Australia,┬áJohn Curtin.

Remembered as a true statesman, Curtin held office during World War II from 1941 – 1945, when he died in office only six weeks before the Japanese surrender. He led Australia through some of its darkest years with resolute tenacity and will be remembered by Australians, regardless of their political leanings, as one of the country’s greatest leaders.

Now, more than 50 years after his death, Curtin University still strives to honour John Curtin’s values of vision, leadership and community service. We believe our innovative curriculum, world – class research and dedication to community service embrace John Curtin’s values.

Western Australia’s largest and most multi – cultural university. A strong commitment to international engagement with Australia’s third largest international student population. We maintain campuses in Malaysia and Singapore while also conducting face – to – face teaching in a number of countries. This cultural diversity adds a rich and valuable dimension to our campus atmosphere and also prepares our graduates to live and work in an increasingly global environment.

Have a long standing commitment to indigenous education and culture and have the highest enrolment of Indigenous Australians of any university in the country. Centre for Aboriginal Studies is recognised as a national leader in its field and we were the first university in Australia to sign a Statement of Reconciliation.

Curtin is also fundamentally committed to providing regional education within Western Australia through campuses and education centres spread across the state including Esperance, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Margaret River, Northam, Port Hedland and Albany. We also have a campus in Sydney.
