Over the last 40 years, the NUS Department of Architecture has seen steady growth, expansion and development which parallels the modernisation of Singapore. It builds on a long tradition of providing a high standard of professional architectural education.

In a recent move to expand beyond its conventional role, the NUS Department of Architecture is re – positioning itself to become a premier design academy for design, research and teaching programs in architecture, urban design and planning, landscape design, design computing and industrial design.

It also seeks to become a centre of excellence for “New Asian Tropical Architecture” by establishing leadership in formulating designs and strategies which address the technologies, cultures, traditions and aspirations of ‘new Asia’ with particular reference to its tropical contexts.
