A Unique Business School
The Stockholm School of Economics ( SSE ) is one of Europe’s leading business schools, with very little dependence on government support, and close ties to the business community. About 2,000 students are registered in programs at various levels ( the executive education programs excluded ). SSE research programs rank among the best in the world in areas such as Marketing and Strategy, Finance and Economics to name but a few.
We believe that everyone gains from increased diversity and equality of opportunity.
The Stockholm School of Economics operates in various places such as Tokyo in Japan, Riga in Latvia, St. Petersburg in Russia and Helsinki in Finland.
Cooperation with the Business Community
SSE was founded in 1909 on the initiative of Swedish business leaders, and the School has maintained close ties with the business community ever since. Many firms are eagerly waiting for the opportunity to participate in SSE’s partnership programs, and SSE has no difficulty in recruiting business leaders for its Board of Directors.
SSE has earned a reputation for excellence, both here in Sweden and around the world. The School collaborates with several leading institutions of higher education around the world. In 1999, SSE became the first Swedish university to be fully accredited by EQUIS ( The European Quality Improvement System ). This means that our teaching and research in all fields have been found to meet the most rigorous international criteria.
SSE is the Swedish member institution of CEMS ( The Community of European Management Schools ). Only one business school in any given country is admitted to CEMS, through which Europe’s seventeen leading business schools and approximately sixty multinational corporations collaborate.
SSE is also the only Nordic representative in ICEDR ( International Consortium for Executive Development Research ), a society comprising the 25 foremost business schools ( Harvard University, MIT, Wharton, among others ) of business and 40 of the leading corporations ( ABB, Deutsche Bank, Unilever, Ericsson to mention a few ) in the world.

Thus, if you have a citizenship in a EU or EEA country, or Switzerland, studies at SSE are free of charge.
The Swedish parliament recently introduced registration and tuition fees for third – country students from outside the European Economic Area or Switzerland attending public higher education institutions in Sweden, starting in the 2011 fall semester. The new fee structure aims to ensure full cost coverage for third-country students ( as a group rather than on an individual basis ).
Tuition fees at Stockholm School of Economics
SSE applies the same conditions and qualification requirements as public higher education institutions.
SSE has set an annual tuition fee of SEK 100,000 for bachelor’s programs and SEK 150,000 for master’s programs.
SSE will be offering a limited number of tuition scholarships for succesfully admitted students to the MSc programs. More information about these scholarships will be published shortly on the website. The Swedish Institute www.si.se (SI ) offers a restricted number of scholarships for master studies ( very few ). If, as a master student, you wish to be part of the SI scholarship program, you must send with your application documents addressed to the admissions office, half a page indicating name, address, date of birth, gender, citizenship, the study program you wish to apply to, and a short description of why you wish to be part of the SI scholarship program.
Students pay for housing, literature, and other living expenses themselves. These costs are estimated to be about SEK 7800 a month ( or about EUR 880 ).
