Library

The Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals and non – book material in science, engineering, technology, humanities, social sciences and management. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Bound volumes of journals, Technical Reports, Theses, Video Cassettes, Compact Discs and Microforms. The library is using Autolib OPAC ( Online Public Access Catalogue ), wherein the users can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author’s name, title, subject, and keywords available on the campus LAN.

1. I year BE Degree Programs

Eligibility

Should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of ( 10, +2 ) Curriculum ( Academic Stream ) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as three of the four subjects of study under Part-III or any examination of any other University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University of Technology as equivalent thereto.

or

Should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of Vocational stream ( Vocational groups in Engineering / Technology ) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

2. II year BE Degree Programs ( Lateral Entry )

The candidates should possess a Degree in Science ( BSc ) with Mathematics as a subject.

Candidates fulfilling these conditions should appear for an entrance test meant for selection of B.Sc. graduates for Lateral Entry to an Engineering Degree programme. The selection of candidates will be based on the entrance test, the merit ranking in the test being the basis of admission.

The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, are eligible for admission to the third semester of the BE / B Tech Degree Programs in affiliated colleges through lateral entry system.

Eligibility

A pass with minimum eligibility marks in one of the Diploma in Engineering / Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil nadu.

3. ME Degree Programs

Eligibility

Details of the common eligibility criteria are available in the “Information & Instructions Booklet” for TANCET 2012 to be issued during Spot Registration and also in the website : www.annauniv.edu/tancet2012.

4. Master of Business Administration ( MBA ) Degree Program

Eligibility

A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained atleast 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination in 10,+2, +3 years pattern (or) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern ( or ) BE / B Tech /B Arch / B Pharm ( or ) AMIE with 2 years regular full time Teaching experience / Industrial experience in the relevant field after passing all the subjects.

5. Master of Computer Applications ( MCA ) Degree Program

Eligibility

A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in 10+2+3/4 years (or) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern in any discipline with Mathematics at +2 level and obtained atleast 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination

‘TEDx’ held at Sona College

For Salem citizens, it was an occasion to be cherished. They were treated to a delectable fare of intellectualism wherein the convergence of high thoughts of leading lights from various fields – from Entertainment and Education to Theatre Arts and Vernacular Architecture – synergised.

‘TEDx’ (Technology, Entertainment and Design), Salem, organised ‘TEDx’ on the premises of Sona College of Technology here last week in which eminent personalities from different walks of life like Education, Entertainment, Public Speaking Skills, Journalism, Dance, Theatre Arts, Cartoon and Vernacular Architecture took to the stage to share their thoughts.

Among those who spoke included veterans like cartoonist Madhan, Tamil writer Gnani, guest faculty, IIM Bangalore, Chendilkumar, a geographer from United States Bret Adams, Director of the Centre for Development of Tamil in Engineering and Technology Subburaman, Clinical Psychologist and educational consultant Aarti Rajaratnam, theatre artist Kalieswari, vernacular architect Durga Jagadish, wall painter M.M.M. Pasupathi and dancer and musicologist Aparna Ramesh.

The speakers at the event ignited the young minds with their real life experiences.

Sona College Student to participate in the Finals of ITC Contest

V. Aswathaman, a final year ECE student of Sona College of Technology here has become one among the 11 National finalists to represent Chennai at the finals of ITC’s ‘Classmate Ideas for India Challenge’ to be held at New Delhi.

His innovative PowerPoint presentation on “Generation of electricity from road speed breakers” has earned him a place in the list of finalists in which nine other city winners along with a wild card winner will be figuring.

The program partnered with ITC Welcomgroup, Travel House has been conceptualized by Krayon. More than 500 participants from 10 cities across country were short listed and top 11 participants have been selected for the final round to be held at New Delhi during 9th December, 2010 to 11th December, 2010.

The 11 National finalists will have their internship with reputed organizations like ITC, CII – ITC Center, Tony Blair Faith Foundation, World Wide Fund for Nature and work towards developing an execution plan for his / her ‘Idea for India.’

Top 5 National finalists will receive a cash award of Rupee1 lakh each and a week International Educational tour.The six runners up will get a cash award of Rupee50,000 each.

The students have to present their ideas to a panel that include Union Minister Kapil Sibal, Y.C. Deveshwar (Chairman – ITC) and the heads of all other program associates.
