Information About B.R.Ambedkar Bihar University

On 02.01.1952 Universities of Bihar was separated from Patna University, but with its headquarters at Patna.

In the year 1960 – The Bihar State Universities Act 1960 bifurcated the existing University of Bihar into three separate Universities, namely; ( 1 ) Bihar University, Muzaffarpur ( 2 ) Ranchi University, Ranchi ( 3 ) Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur.

Again in the year 1961 – The Bihar University Act 1961 bifurcated the existing Bihar University, Muzaffarpur into Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and Magadh University, Bodh Gaya.

Again in the year 1973 Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, was bifurcated into Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and Mithila University,Darbhanga.

In the year 1990 – Again Bihar University, Muzaffarpur was bifurcated into Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and J.P. University, Chapra.

In the year 1992 – The name of Bihar University was changed to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and since then it is known as B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.

  2. Should have passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category ) and passed XII standard with mathematics asa subject.
  3. Provided that in the case of students belonging to B.Sc. stream, they shall clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawings and Engineering Mechanics of the first year engineering program along with the second year subjects.
  4. Provided further that the students belonging to B.Sc. stream shall be considered only after filling the supernumerary seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma stream.
  5. Provided further that students, who have passed Diploma in Engineering & Technology from a recognized BBoard / University or B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, shall also be eligible for admission to the first year Engineering Degree courses subject to vacancies in the first year class in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted. However, the admissions shall be based strictly on the eligibility criteria as mentioned in a, b, c, d & e above.

4 Years
  1. The candidates should have passed with minimum 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category ) in 10 +2 Examination with at least five subjects from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects alongwith one of the subjects of Chemistry / Biotech / Biology.
  2. However, for admission to Biotechnology, the candidates with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology shall also be eligible. ( Or )
  3. Should have passed with minimum 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category ) in Diploma in Engg. / Tech., of three years or more duration from any recognized Board of Technical Education / University or its equivalent Diploma examination.
MBBS Program
4.5+1 yearThe candidates should fulfil the following minimum conditions to become eligible for admission to MBBS / BDS course :

  1. He / She will attain the age of 17 years or more on 31.12.2011. The age shall be determined as per entry in the Matriculation / Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination certificate.
  2. The candidate must have passed both the following examinations :
    1. Senior School Certificate Examination ( 10+2 ) of Board of School Education, Haryana or an examination as equivalent thereto with at least five subjects from any recognized Board / University with atleast 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together ( 45% in the case of candidates with Locomotive Disability ) and must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually in the qualifying examination. Student is also required to have passed in other subjects of +2 Examination.
    2. Placed in the merit list prepared as a result of this Competitive Entrance Test by securing not less than 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates with locomotive disability of lower limbs ).
  3. The candidate must produce a Medical Fitness Certificate from a Medical Board constituted / approved by the Principal, M.M. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Mullana. The candidature of a candidate found medically unfit is liable to be cancelled. Any candidate who fails to attend the medical examination on the notified date is liable to forfeit the claim for admission and placement in the waiting list.

Note :
  1. The candidates passing qualifying examination from National Open School shall also be eligible provided they fulfil the conditions laid down at ii ( a ) above.
  2. Diploma in Pharmacy and Dressor\'s Course are not equivalent to 10+2 for the purpose of admission to MBBS / BDS courses according to the rules of MM University.
  3. The list of examinations recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examinations of Board of School Education, Haryana as also a list of fake institutions / Universities / Boards is available in the Academic Branch of the University which may be consulted before making application for admission to the course.
  4. The candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to appear in the Entrance Test. But such candidates will have to submit the result of the qualifying examinations at the time of counselling failing which they will not be considered eligible for admission. Any candidate with compartment / re - appear in any subject in 10+2 examination will be considered for admission to MBBS / BDS course only if he / she passed in that subject on or before the date of respective counselling.

BPT Program 4 Years
  1. The candidates should attain the age of 17 years on or before 31 - 12 - 2010 which shall be determined as per entry in the Certificate of Matriculation / Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination from any recognized Board / University.
  2. The candidates must have passed Senior Secondary Examination ( 10 +2 ), Pre - Medical or plus two or any other equivalent examination from any recognized Indian / Foreign University / Board with a minimum of 50% marks ( 40% in the case of SC/ST candidates ) in aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The candidates should have passed 10 +2 examination with at least five subjects.
  3. A candidate getting compartment in 10 +2 examination will be considered for admission in case he / she produces the proof of passing the examination on the day of Counseling.
BHM&CT Program
( Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology )
4 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 ) with minimum 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category ) with at least five subjects including English as one of the subjects from any recognized Board or University.
Note : The candidates of BHM-MBA (5-year Integrated course) will have the option to move out with a degree in BHM&CT after passing 4 years of the course.
B.Pharm Program4 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 ) or an equivalent examination from any recognized Board / University with minimum 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category ) with atleast five subjects including compulsory subjects of Physics and Chemistry along with one of the subjects of Mathematics, Bio - Technology, Biology.
B.Pharm Lateral Entry Program
3 YearsThe candidates who have acquired a Diploma in Pharmacy with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all semesters / examination from AICTE and PCI approved institutions may be allowed admission to second year provided that Diploma holders in Pharmacy admitted directly to B.Pharm second year shall have to pass those subjects of B.Pharm first year which were not covered by them under D.Pharm course.
B.Sc.
( Nursing )
4 Years
  • The candidates should attain the age of 17 years on or before 31 - 12 - 2010 which shall be determined as per entry in the Certificate of Matriculation / Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination from any recognized Board / University.
  • The candidates should have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination ( 10+2 ) from any recognized Board / University with a minimum of 45% ( 40% in case of SC / ST candidates ) aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The candidates are also required to pass in 5th subject of 10+2 Examination.
  • A candidate with compartment in 10+2 examination will be considered for admission in case he / she produces the proof of passing the examination on the day of Counseling.

Note : Married candidates are also eligible for admission.
P.B.B.Sc. Nursing Program2 Years
  • The candidates should have passed Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from an Institute recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • The candidates should be registered Nurse and registered Midwife ( or alternative registration in lieu of midwifery for male nurses ) with any State Nursing Council.

Note: Married candidates are also eligible for admission.
B.Sc. Program
( Hospitality Management )
3 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 ) with minimum 50% marks ( 45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category ) with at least five subjects including English as one of the subjects from any recognized Board or University.

Note : The candidates of BHM - MBA ( 5 - year Integrated course ) will have the option to move out with a degree in BHM&CT after passing 4 years of the course.
B.Sc. Program

3 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 ) in five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from any recognized University / Board.
B.Sc. Industry Integrated Program

3 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 ) with at least five subjects including English as one of the subjects from any recognized Board or University.
LL.B Program3 YearsThe candidates should have passed a Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree with at least 45% marks ( 40% for SC & ST candidates ) in aggregate from any recognized University and should not be more than 30 yrs of age as on date of admission ( relaxable by 5 yr for the candidates belonging to the SC / ST or OBC\'s categories ).
BBA, BBA Industry Integrated Program 3 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2 ) from any recognized Board / University with at least five subjects including English as one of the main subjects.
BCA3 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 ) with atleast five subjects including Maths as one of the subjects from any recognized Board or University.

Note : The candidates of BCA - MCA ( 5 - years Integrated course ) will have the option to move out with a degree of BCA after passing 3 years of the course.
B.Com3 YearsThe candidates should have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( 10 +2 standard ) of any recognized Board / University with at least five subjects including English as one of the subjects, in Commerce Group or Non - Commerce Groups with Economics / Math / Statistics as one of the subjects.
