Vocational Course (Full-Time) in Railway Commercial
A two-year job-linked vocational course (full-time) in "Railway Commercial" at the +2 1evel had been introduced from the academic year 1991-92, as a Pilot Project. The Vocational Course in "Railway Commercial" is recognised by the Central Board of Secondary Education. On successful completion of the course, the students will normally be appointed directly as Commercial Clerks / Ticket Collectors on the Indian Railways after passing the medical examination, etc., subject to their attaining the minimum standards in the +2 examination.
The Vocational Course is conducted in 9 selected schools located at Delhi, Mumbai (2 schools), Chennai, Calcutta (2 schools), Secunderabad, Guwahati and Gorakhpur. Each of the selected school has only one section for the Vocational Course. The number of students admitted in each school shall not exceed 40.
COURSE CONTENTS:Subjects: The subjects for the Vocational Course in "Railway Commercial" are as under:
- English
- A second language offered by the school OR Business Studies OR Economics
- General Foundation Course
- Railway Commercial Working (Theory and Practical)
- Economics
- Accountancy
- Mathematics;
- Business studies;
- Introductory Computer Sciences (Theory and Practical);
- Psychology.
Students must be 15 years of age or above but less than 18 years as on 1st June.
Examination FeeA Crossed Postal Order for Rs 40/- drawn in favour of "Railway Recruitment Board" concerned.
Plan of Examination-Vocational Course (Full-Time) in Railway CommercialGeneral Note about Examination Scheme The Entrance Examination shall consist of a written test of objective type, multiple-choice questions, on General Knowledge, General English, General Arithmetic, General Intelligence / Psychology and Aptitude. The question papers will be set in English / Hindi excepting for the compulsory portion of General English. The written examination will be followed by an interview. Students qualifying in the Entrance Examination shall be offered admission to the Vocational Course on the basis of merit provided they pass the 10th class examination with at least 50% marks in the aggregate (40% in the case of SC/ST candidates) and subject to a medical examination. After competition of course appointments will be made in the Railway Service as Commercial Clerks/Ticket Collectors.
