Career in Electronic Engineering :

The electronic gadgets and equipments used in entertainment, media, hospitals, homes and industries owe their origin to the electronics engineers who play an important role in their designing, fabrication, maintenance, supervision and manufacturing.

Eligibility for Electronics Engineering Career :
For a diploma in engineering, one must clear the 10th Std. board exam successfully with at least 50% marks. Various polytechnics offer diploma in various disciplines of engineering.
i ) To be eligible for bachelor’s degree course i.e. B.E or BTech, one must clear the 12th std. board exam with at least 50% marks( 60% for IITs ) in the science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as compulsory subjects. Several states and IITs have an entrance exam for admission into engineering, colleges in other states grant admission based on marks scored in 12th Std. exam, particularly in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Diploma holders can also get direct admission into second year of engineering in the same stream in which they have completed their diploma.
ii ) For a master’s level course, one must complete the bachelor’s degree program successfully. Further Studies After graduating students can go in for postgraduate studies ie M.E or M.Tech.
iii ) Further studies up to Ph.D. level are also an option for anyone interested in Research or Academics.
iv ) There is also the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers ( AMIE ), which enables working people in the private and public sector, or diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor’s engineering degree through distance education.
Electronics Engineering Professional Courses :
One needs a B.E or B.Tech degree to become an Electronics Engineer or one must have passed the AMIE ( Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers ) in electronics or Graduate membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers or at least a diploma in Electronics Engineering. For those who want to enter teaching or research work in this field one should possess a postgraduate degree of M.E or M.tech in Electronics Engineering. 1 ) Biomedical Engineering this branch studies about designing prosthetic devices and electronic systems for medical use, develop monitoring and imaging equipment for clinics and hospitals, and devise biomedical research tools.
2 ) Analog and Digital Electronics studies about designing electronic systems and subsystems for the home entertainment, telecommunication, automotive, aircraft, instrumentation, and manufacturing industries.
3 ) Communications and Digital Processing Specialists in these areas design circuits and software for transmitters and receivers, devise speech and video compression algorithms, and develop computer programs and systems for recording, analyzing and displaying all types of digital and analog information.
4 ) Power electronics devise systems that generate and distribute electrical energy to homes and businesses, and design more efficient motors and generators.

Remunerations for Electronics Engineering :
i ) Freshers can get a starting salary of ₹ 9,000 to ₹ 13,000 per month excluding other allowances. In the government sector, the salary range of diploma holders is ₹ 5,000 to ₹ 9,000 per month.
ii ) Lecturers in colleges get a starting salary of ₹ 12,000 – ₹ 13,000 a month.
iii ) With more experience or as an established independent consultant one could earn more.
iv ) Senior engineers can earn anywhere in between ₹ 30,000 and ₹ 50,000 a month. Those at management levels can earn up to ₹ 60,000 or even more.
In addition to salaries, engineers working with government departments are also entitled to a lot of incentives and perks. The increments are purely performance based as well as position based.
