CUCET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Central University of Haryana

Academic Programmes University offers the following Programmes under various Schools during the academic year 2021 – 22

Note : Duration of all PG Courses is 2 Yrs. spread over 4 Semesters except MCA which is 3 Years duration of 6 Semesters. ( A Semester consists of 6 Months )

Seats in all the PhD programs are subject to availability of the research supervisor in the concerned department. In case of shortage of Research Supervisor the seats may be decreased or the admission may not be offered at all.

Economics

Degree : M.A.

Eligibility : Bachelor’s degree with economics as one of the subject from a recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade. OR 55%or more marks in Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in any other discipline or subject from a recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list )

Education

Degree : M.A.

Eligibility : Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with a minimum 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade.

Degree : B.Ed

Eligibility : 50% Marks either in Bachelor Degree and /or in Master’s Degree in Science / Social Science / Humanities, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and mathematics with 55 % marks or any other qualification recognized as equivalent.

Degree : M.Ed

Eligibility : 50% Marks or an equivalent grade in B.Ed. / B.El.Ed. / B.A.B.Ed.,B.Sc.B.Ed / D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree with 50% ( with fifty percent marks in each ). The candidates having compartment will not be allowed for admission in M.Ed. ( Regular Course ) in any case.

History & Archaeology

Degree : M.A.

Eligibility : Graduation from any recognized university with a minimum 50 % marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

Political Science

Degree : M.A.

Eligibility : Graduation from any recognized university with a minimum 50 % marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

Psychology

Chemistry

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. ( Hons. ) Chemistry from any recognized Indian or Foreign University ( Foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate. Or Graduation in any branch of Science or Engineering with Chemistry and Biology / Mathematics as two of the Subjects of study with 55% or above marks in aggregate.

Computer Science

Degree : M.C.A.

Eligibility : Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade. Or Equivalent grade in Mathematical Sciences ( Mathematics / Statistics / Operations Research / Computer Science ).

Library & Info. Science

Degree : M.Lib. & Info. Sc.

Eligibility : Graduation from any recognized university with a minimum 50 % marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

Environmental Studies

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. ( Hons. ) / B.Sc.from any recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

Geography

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : Graduation from any recognized university with a minimum 50 % marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

Journalism, Media and Mass Communication

Degree : M.A. (JMC)

Eligibility : Graduation from any recognized university with a minimum 50 % marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

English & Foreign Languages

Degree : M.A.

Eligibility : Graduation from any recognized university with a minimum 50 % marks or equivalent grade in aggregate

Hindi & Indian Languages

Commerce

Degree : M.Com.

Eligibility : A candidate seeking admission to M. Com. Course must have: B.Com. ( Hons. ) Degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with at least  50% marks or equivalent grade. OR B.Com. Eligibility : Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with at least 50% marks aggregate or equivalent grade.

Mathematics

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : B.A / B.Sc.( Hons. ) in Mathematics from any recognized Indian or Foreign University ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate and 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in Mathematics. OR B.Sc. / B.A. with Mathematics as one of the subject of study with 55% or above marks or equivalent grade.

Physics

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. ( Hons. ) Physics from any recognized Indian or foreign university ( foreign recognition to be as per AIU list ) with 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate. OR Graduation in any branch of Science or Engineering with Physics and Mathematics as two of the Subjects of study with 55% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate.

Statistics

Biochemistry

Degree : M.Sc.

Nutrition Biology

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. (Hons. ) Or B.Sc. in Botany / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Bi otechnology / Life Sciences / Zoology / Home Science / Nutrition Dietics / Food Science / Food Technology with minimum 50% Marks in aggregate or equivalent.

Biotechnology

Degree : M.Sc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. ( Hons. ) or B.Sc. in Botany / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Bi otechnology / Life Sciences / Zoology with minimum 50% Marks in aggregate

Tourism and Hotel Management

Degree : M.H.M.C.T

bBachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent.

M. Phil. Programmes

Subject :  ( Economics, Education, Political Science, English & Foreign Languages, Hindi & Indian Languages, History & Archeology, Sociology )

Degree : M. Phil

Eligibility : A candidate shall be eligible for admission to M.Phil Programme, if he/she has qualified Master’s Degree in the subject concerned / allied / cognate subjects with at least 55% marks, in aggregate from the University and/or a degree recognized by the University for this purpose as its equivalent. ( The cases of students who have passed examination outside the Indian Universities system and who may not have obtained a Master’s degree may be considered for admission to the programme subject to the condition that each case shall be examined on its own merit by the Admission Committee and in accordance with recommendations of the Equivalence Committee ) with either of the conditions: In case of Candidates who have qualified CUCET examination in the relevant programme of study ( The University shall conduct an Entrance Test ( CUCET-2018 ) with qualifying marks as 50% ( a relaxation of 5% of marks to be allowed for those belonging to the SC / ST / OBC ( non creamy layer ) / Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC / MHRD / GOI from time to time ), such candidates shall be called for interview in order of merit in the said examination in the ratio of 1:5 for each seat offered. The interview shall be conducted by the concerned Department, which shall carry weightage of 100% for final selection. OR In case of candidates who have cleared UGC / CSIR-JRF / NET / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship or who have teaching / research experience of more than two years on regular basis shall be exempted from the written test of CUCET-2018. In such cases the interview shall be conducted by the concerned Department, which shall carry weightage of 100% for final selection.

Ph. D. Programmes

Subject : ( Economics, Education, Political Science, Chemistry, English & Foreign Languages, Hindi & Indian Languages, Management Studies, Commerce, Microbiology, Law, Nutrition Biology, Biotechnology, History, Statistics, Sociology )

Degree : Ph.D.

Eligibility : A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme, if he/she has qualified Master’s Degree in the subject concerned / allied / cognate subjects with at least 55% marks, in aggregate from the University and / or a degree recognized by the University for this purpose as its equivalent along with the following condition : All Candidates who have cleared UGC / ASRB / CSIR-JRF / NET / SLET / GATE in the relevant discipline or are Teacher Fellowship holders or have passed M.Phil. programme with course work recognized by the U.G.C. as per UGC Regulations ( Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of M.Phil. / Ph.D. Degree 2009/2016 ) for admission to Ph.D. programme in the relevant discipline shall be called for interview. In case of Candidates who have qualified CUCET examination in the relevant programme of study ( The University shall conduct an Entrance Test ( CUCET-2021 ) with qualifying marks as 50% ( a relaxation of 5% of marks to be allowed for those belonging to the SC / ST / OBC ( non creamy layer ) / Differentlyabled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC / MHRD / GOI from time to time ), such candidates shall be called for interview in the ratio 1:5 against each seat for which admission is sought.
Note: The intake for Ph.D and M.Phil. programmes may vary subject to availability of Faculty.

B. Voc./ B.Tech.Programmes

Retail and Logistic Management

Degree : B.Voc

Eligibility : 10+2 or equivalent in any discipline with at least 50% marks aggregate or equivalent grade ( 45% for SC / ST / PWD ).

Biomedical Sciences

Degree : B.Voc

Eligibility : 10+2 with Science and Biology as a Subject with 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate ( 45% for SC / ST / PWD ).

Industrial Waste Management

Degree : B.Voc

Eligibility : 10+2 in Science with 50% or above marks or equivalent grade in aggregate ( 45% for SC / ST / PWD ).

Egineering

Subject : ( Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Printing & Packaging Technology )

Degree : B.Tech

Eligibility : Admission to first year / first semester Bachelor Degree in Technology shall be open to the students who have passed XII standard or equivalent examination conducted by CBSE or equivalent boards with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate. For the requisite qualifications earned from foreign countries, Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities ( AIU ) is mandatory. The matter of eligibility of the candidate shall be put up to the Equivalence Committee for its consideration and the decision of the Equivalence Committee shall be final. In addition to the Point (1), the student shall have secured not less than fourty five (45) percent marks in the aggregate with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with any one of the following subjects, namely, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology and Electronics or as decided by the University from time to time: “Provided, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be forty (40) percent in the aggregate in XII standard in case of students belonging to the SC / ST and the OBC ( non-creamy layer ) / differently candidates or as decided by the University from time to time. Provided further that, the student shall have studied and passed English as one of the subjects.”

Eligibility Criteria for Research Programmes

M. Phil ( Master of Philosophy )

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to M. Phil Programme, if he/she has qualified Master’s Degree in the subject concerned / allied / cognate subjects with at least 55% marks, in aggregate from the University and/or a degree recognized by the University for this purpose as its equivalent. ( The cases of students who have passed examination outside the Indian Universities system and who may not have obtained a Master’s degree may be considered for admission to the programme subject to the condition that each case shall be examined on its own merit by the Admission Committee and in accordance with recommendations of the Equivalence Committee ) with either of the conditions:

Procedure for Admission

  • The University shall conduct an Entrance Test ( CUCET ), with the qualifying marks as 50% ( a relaxation of 5% of marks may be allowed for those belonging to the SC / ST / OBC ( noncreamylayer ) / Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time ). The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall be as decided by the CUCET Consortium. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the centre(s) notified in advance by the University.
  • The candidates who have cleared the UGC / CSIR-NET / JRF / SLET / SET / GATE and TeacherFellowship-holders shall be exempted from Entrance Test.
  • Admission shall be based on the performance of the qualified candidates in an interview / vivavoce to be organised by the Department where the candidates shall be required to discuss their research interest / area through a presentation before a duly constituted Departmental Research Committee.

Ph. D ( Doctor of Philosophy )

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme, if he/she has qualified Master’s Degree in the subject concerned / allied / cognate subjects with at least 55% marks, in aggregate from the University and/or a degree recognized by the University for this purpose as its equivalent.

Procedure for Admission

The University shall conduct an Entrance Test ( CUCET ) with qualifying marks as 50% ( a relaxation of 5% of marks to be allowed for those belonging to the SC / ST / OBC ( non-creamy layer ) / Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time ). The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall be as decided by the CUCET Consortium. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the centre(s) notified in advance by the University.

The admission shall be based on the performance of the qualified candidates in the interview / viva-voce to be organised by the Department concerned where the candidates shall be required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Departmental Research Committee. The candidates who have qualified UGC / CSIR-JRF / NET / SLET / GATE, or are Teacher Fellowship holders, or have passed the M. Phil. programme with course work recognised by the U.G.C., s per the UGC Regulations ( Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of M.Phil. / Ph.D. Degree, 2009 ), shall be exempted from the written test.

School of Engineering and Technology

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Technology ( B. Tech )

Admission to first year / first semester Bachelor Degree in Technology shall be open to the students who have passed XII standard or equivalent examination conducted by CBSE or equivalent boards with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. For the requisite qualifications earned from foreign countries, Equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities ( AIU ) is mandatory. The matter of eligibility of the candidate shall be put up to the Equivalence Committee for its consideration and the decision of the Equivalence Committee shall be final.

In addition to the Point (1), the student shall have secured not less than fifty ( 50 ) percent marks in the aggregate with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with any one of the following subjects, namely, Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology and Electronics or as decided by the University from time to time:

“Provided, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be forty-five ( 45 ) percent in the aggregate in XII standard in case of students belonging to the SC / ST and the OBC ( noncreamy layer ) / differently candidates or as decided by the University from time to time. The admissions will be offered on the basis of the order of merit in the entrance examination and as per the reservation rules. The candidates whose qualifying examination results are not declared at the time of admission will be given provisional admission and their admissions automatically stand cancelled if they fail to secure the required percentage of marks in their qualifying examination or they fail in the said examination. The candidates so selected will have to give an undertaking in the format given in the prospectus to this effect. The candidates admitted to any of the programmes and whose results are still awaited at the time of admission need to submit the marks card of the qualifying examination to the Department concerned latest by 31st August, 2021.
