C.P. Joshi Gets Additional Charge of Railways

C.P. Joshi, the Road Transport and Highways Minister on September 24th, 2012 took an additional charge of the Railway Ministry after Mukul Roy resigned from the position.

Joshi is a congress MP from Bhilwara in Rajasthan. With this responsibility in the hands of C.P. joshi, the railway ministry has landed down in the hands of Congress after 17 years. The last railway minister from congress was C.K. Jaffer Sharief ( 1991 – 95 ). Mukul Roy a member of Rajya Sabha from West Bengal and the former Railway Minister from Trinamool Congress resigned from the position on September 21st, 2012 after his party withdrew support from the government.

The others whose resignation was accepted by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister were Ministers of State Sudip Bandyopadhyay ( Health and Family welfare ), Saugata Roy ( Urban Development ), Choudhary Mohan Jatua ( Information and Broadcasting ), Sultan Ahmed ( Tourism ) and Sisir Adhikari( Rural Development ).
