Coimbatore City Traffic Police Launch Website
Motorists traveling in the city and having mobile phones running Android will be able to locate roads with traffic snarls. And they can also use their phones to click pictures of traffic rule violations and send them to the Coimbatore City Traffic Police website through flickr.com
City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan and Deputy Commissioner of Police ( Traffic ) Pravesh Kumar are initiating a number of measures to ensure better traffic management. These include the Green Corridor road concept with synchronised signals, provision of UPS or solar powered panels for traffic signals to tide over power cuts besides introduction of systems to detect an oncoming ambulance or fire tender at a distance to clear the signal under the Emergency Corridor concept.
The latest offering is the website of the Coimbatore City Traffic Police with the URL www.coimbatorecitytrafficpolice.org designed and hosted by B.Karthikeyan of DroidHash Technologies in Coimbatore. The website will be available to registered users only. The user will have to give the phone number or address to sign – in.
The first phase of the website was launched at the Road Safety Week observance valedictory by Mr. Viswanathan, Collector M. Karunagaran, Pravesh Kumar, T. Senthilkumar ( DCP Law and Order ) and Formula One racer Narain Karthikeyan.
The home page has a message from the Police Commissioner and his deputy besides traffic signs and rules.
Police also said staff will be trained to monitor the website round – the – clock to update the details.
