How to reach the Khajuraho Temple :

Khajuraho is well connected by the airplanes. Daily flights from the major northern cities like Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi are available. This has made the place very easily accessible. The airport however is situated in nearest city a few kilometers away from the main city. The village does not have railway station. The nearest places with railway stations are Harpalpur, which is just 94 kms away from Khajuraho and Mahoba, which is separated by just 63 kms from Khajuraho. The railway stations of these places receive trains from all the major destinations of India. The other major cities of Madhya Pradesh like Satna, Jhansi and likes are also near to Khajuraho. The roadways are well connected with many of the Tongas and Buses plying on a regular basis.

The features of the Khajuraho temple :

There were originally 88 temples built by the Chandela rulers but among them only 22 of the temples could survive the test of time and are in a condition to undergo preservation. The temples are mainly popular for the sculptures crafted on the walls of the temples. The sculptures are an attempt to showcase the basic instincts of human beings. It has tried to spread the message of attaining salvation through physical pleasure. The sculptures have depicted human beings in different forms and poses drawing physical gratification. There are several mythological stories doing the rounds explaining the erotic description of Hindu society of the medieval period. But the fact remains that they are still enjoyed and cherished by the human beings.
