Tim & Judith Sear Scholarship
Three (3) scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each are offered to Pan-American members. Candidates must be outstanding students who have presented papers or published during their training period. This scholarship recognizes potential future professors and leaders within the organization. The applicant should be a general ophthalmologist, no more than 2 to 3 years out of his / her residency program, and from Mexico, Central, or South America. The applicant must have been accepted to an accredited fellowship program in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean. Confirmation of acceptance into the program must be included with the application. Funding provided by Tim & Judith Sear for the advancement of education in ophthalmology throughout the world.
Make sure you have verified your membership status with the PAAO Administrative Office. All applicants must be an Active Member ($150) or a Member-in-Training ($0 first year, $25 second year, $50 third-fifth year membership) of the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) at the time of application.

Application Eligibility for Tim & Judith Sear Scholarship
The applicant should be a general ophthalmologist, no more than 2 to 3 years out of his / her residency program, and from Mexico, Central America, South America or the Caribbean. The applicant must have been accepted to an accredited fellowship program. The PAAO will not place applicants in institutions.
Employees of the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology ( PAAO ), Pan-American Ophthalmological Foundation ( PAOF ), members of the PAAO Executive Committee, members of the PAOF Board of Directors, their immediate family members and members of the same household, whether related or not, are not eligible to apply for scholarship / fellowship funding. All scholarships are subject to federal laws and regulations and are void where prohibited by law or regulation. Applicants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by decisions of the Review Committee which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the scholarship / fellowship. The PAAO & PAOF reserve the right to disqualify any applicant that they determine, in their sole discretion, to be ineligible to participate in the scholarship / fellowship program. Individuals who have previously received scholarship / fellowship funding are ineligible to apply for additional
scholarships / fellowships / funding.
Deadline for Tim & Judith Sear Scholarship Application
The applicant should be a general ophthalmologist, no more than 2 or 3 years out of his / her residency training program. The receipt deadline for applications to the 2017 Tim & Judith Sear Scholarship Program is 1st October, 2016. The PAOF Fellowships Committee will review all applications at its business meeting in October / November.
The applicant must have been accepted to an accredited fellowship training program in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean and include a copy of his / her acceptance letter with this Sear Scholarship application
