Fellowship for Training of Young Scientists

The aim of the scheme is to encourage young scientists of the State to take up research studies in emerging and frontier areas of Science & Technology related to their field. The training is expected to provide the candidates with an opportunity to work with the latest equipments and facilities under the well-known experts. It is believed that such an exposure will equip the FTYS trainees to initiate independently advanced research programmes in their respective institutions.

Duration of Training / Studies

Normal duration of training will be of three months only but in no case it will be less than one month. However, in special cases this can be extended up to a maximum of six months. The application along with the progress report and recommendation of host scientist / expert for extension of training period should reach this office not later than one month before the date of expiry of the training.


The applicant must be either employee or research scholar working in an institution recognized by State / Central agency and situated in Madhya Pradesh. M.P. Young Scientist Awardees may also avail this fellowship within two years period after receiving the award in pursuance of his/her research work on which award has been given. The upper age limit of candidate is 35 years at the time of submission of application for FTYS.

Financial Support

The selected candidates will be paid Rs. 10000/- per month as Fellowship and Contingencies of Rs. 5000/-. An additional grant of Rs. 5000/-
under contingencies head may be granted, in case the training period is expended up to 5 months or above. The selected candidates will get one time to and fro train fare ( limited to 3AC class ) /bus fare on production of journey proof from their institution to the approved institution where he / she will avail fellowship.


The FTYS may be availed at any of the science/technology institution of national repute recognized by state/central agencies. This fellowship can not be availed at candidate’s parent institutions. The sponsoring institutions will have to treat the candidate either on duty or provide them study leave with full pay during the training/studies period.

Application Form

Applications under FTYS scheme should be submitted in four copies in the prescribed proforma to the MPCST through the Executive Head of the Institution. The application may be submitted any time during the year but atleast two months before proposed start of the training / study.

On return from training, the scientists will be required to submit the certificate and a report with full vouchers and details on the work performed during the tenure of the fellowship. The report must be authenticated by the institute where fellowship was availed and should be sent through proper channel.
