The Governance Services Unit is part of the Corporate Services Division of La Trobe University. La Trobe has been one of Australia’s pioneering universities for forty years. Discover our unique history, including our motto and coat of arms. In 1967, 552 students enrolled at La Trobe University, the third University to open in Victoria.
It has grown to accommodate more than 30,000 students including approximately 7,600 international students from over 90 countries. We now have a network of campuses with 21,000 students at our Melbourne campus and over 5,900 at our campuses in Albury – Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura, Melbourne City and Shepparton.

Education Abroad Programs
There are many opportunities for La Trobe students to study overseas with one of our global exchange partners. Students from overseas can come to La Trobe and do a short term Study Abroad program ranging from six months to a year. Some short courses are also available to international students.
Study Aboard Program
A program that enables students to undertake either a semester or a year of study at La Trobe University that will be credited towards their home degree. Study Abroad students defer from their home institution for the period they intend to study at La Trobe, and pay international student fees while studying here.
Student Exchange Program
A program that allows students who are enrolled at La Trobe to study at one of our International Exchange Partner institutions or a student at a partner institution to study here at La Trobe. La Trobe has partnerships with over 100 universities in over 30 countries in Asia, Europe and North and South America.

All faculties have extensive research programs and we are a member of Innovative Research Universities, Australia, a group which collectively attracts more than $340 million in funding per annum.
La Trobe E – Research
The e – Research office provides aid to researchers with computing, data storage, information management and data modelling, as well as providing access to grants / programs, software tools, potential external partners and other electronic resources. The e – Research office provides services related to High Performance Computing, Gaussian Computer, Research Storage, managing data and storing data, VPAC collaboration and provision of an Access Grid.
High value projects run by the e – Research office are typically about infrastructure and complex applications and tools to promote the eResearch capability of La Trobe University.
