The institute is continuously striving to provide service to society and impart training to aspiring professionals and a variety of functionaries working with people. This college is accredited by NAAC at A Level. The mission of this college is to strive for excellence in social work education training and research by upholding social work values and the nobility of the profession. Karve Institute of Social Service envisage a society which ensures peace, harmony, dignity, justice and equal opportunities for development of individuals and communities through planned social work interventions by a committed cadre of professionals.
The Department of Advanced Professional Training
The Department of Advanced Professional Training was started in January 2002. This department organizes demand – based short term courses and capacity building workshops for the professionals in the field. A few of the courses which the department plans to organize in the near future are in the area of Counselling, Project Design, Project Monitoring, Management of the Field Action Projects and Campaign Strategies.
The Institute also conducts need – based short term courses sponsored by agencies like National Institute of Public Co – Operation and Child Development, National Literacy Mission, Central Social Welfare Board ( CSWB ), National Institute of Social Defense, Directorate of Women, Child and Handicapped Development, Maharashtra State and other organizations.

Karve Institute of Social Service Placement
The Job Placement Cell is one of the important activities of the Institute. Every year the Placement Cell receives correspondence for vacancies from various organisation from all over India. The Campus Interviews are organised in the 4th term every year. The Cell also takes in the registration of students from other social work colleges and informs them accordingly.The students of the Institute are currently employed in various NGOs, Hospitals, Communities and Industries.
